Gilad Atzmon was born in Israeli occupied Palestine in 1963 and had his musical training at the Rubin Academy of Music, Jerusalem (Composition and Jazz). As a multi-instrumentalist he plays Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Baritone Saxes, Clarinet and Flutes. His album Exile was the BBC jazz album of the year in 2003.
Atzmon writes on political matters, social issues, Jewish identity and culture. His papers are published on very many press outlets around the world. His new Book: The Wandering Who? A Study Of Jewish Identity Politics has gained praise and controversy as he stands against injustice in occupied Palestine. His talk in Chicago will explore his journey from Zionism towards ethics via music and American Jazz in particular as well as important issues about Jewish identity at this moment in history.
