Radiance of Resistance
a film featuring Ahed Tamimi and Janna Ayyad
In 2015 and 2016, three American filmmakers joined the International Solidarity Movement (ISM) in Palestine and filmed Palestinian nonviolent resistance in the West Bank village of Nabi Salih. They quickly realized that two young girls would be the focus of the film. Janna Ayyad, at age nine, has been called the youngest journalist in Palestine. Ahed Tamimi, then 14, recently became a symbol of resistance when she was sent to prison for slapping an Israeli soldier. Both have had members of their families shot, killed and arrested. The film has appeared in festivals around the world.
The Northern California chapter of the International Solidarity Movement has rented the Grand Lake Theater in order to make this film available to the public. Between the two showings, we will talk live with Bassem Tamimi, the father of child prisoner Ahed Tamimi, and we will have a panel discussion including representatives from co-sponsors of the event, the Middle East Children’s Alliance, the Palestinian American Coalition and Friends of Sabeel, North America. Endorsing organizations include Voices for Justice in Palestine, Courage to Resist and the US Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel. More welcome.
